Basic Elements of the Activity
We will try answering this question combining the issues and needs of the above answer with the elements of the activity. We have to mention also, that all the elements and all the organized educational activities that will be done in this PDA (Training Course) are Non-Formal Educational activities or to create according to the experience of all the trainers.
All the indoor activities are going to be implemented in which is the place who will host the activity. So, in the following sessions are described in details the different sessions of the activity with use of the different elements
1. Gender equality remains unfinished business in every country of the world. The progress that has been made towards gender equality over the past quarter of a century, though slow and incremental, does however show that change is possible. We believe that a very powerful tool for change is through non-formal education. We want at first, to help participants understand how all these stereotypes that we grew up with, affect us emotionally and prepare us to accept many inequalities in professional and personal life. Young people learn to critically assess the impact of rigid gender norms on their own identities and make the links between gender norms, inequality and abuse. Through this process, they are empowered to embrace their right to be valued and respected for who they truly are (and not what society expects them to be) and their responsibility to value and respect others equally.
2.Also, we will examine barriers to female economic participation and progress, exploring and implementing solutions for continued dialogue and action in each country. The young people will develop an understanding of different types of gender-based violence including physical, psychological, and sexual abuse. The main activity focuses on scenarios of gender-based bullying in school. Being able to name gender-based bullying, to acknowledge its impact and understand why it happens empowers young people to stand up for themselves and their friends, as well as consider where their own behaviour or actions might be hurtful to someone else.
3.Furthermore, we will examine everything about domestic violence, what it is,who is affected, what are the signs and symptoms of intimate partner abuse, what are the signs that someone is a victim of domestic violence and what you can do to help yourself or someone else that needs it.As a result, young participants feel motivated to develop strategies for addressing gender-based violence if they or a friend experiences it in their romantic relationships.
4.To gain active listening and communication. The participants will be able to listen to different points of view, to express one's own opinions and evaluate both.
5.Raising Critical Thinking. The participants will distinguish between fact and opinion, being aware of prejudices and preconceptions, recognizing forms of manipulation.
6. Stress management and stress relief techniques and other coping strategies: In this training we will use a lot of stress relief techniques such as mindfulness, breathing techniques and art therapy. This process may result in enhanced physical and emotional well-being.
7.Raising emotional awareness and empathy with others and confidence to stand up against inequality and discrimination.
8.Strengthen awareness for other cultures: Provide the relevant knowledge and involve participants in activities that will enable them to criticize and attempt to eliminate any form of discrimination. During the training, we will make a lot of activities with role-playing and group discussions that involve participants in scenarios of different types of discrimination either in personal or professional life.
As we mentioned below, in the training we will use different activities of theatre, but the main tool is role play, a technique of educational and social intervention which is explained in detail in ANNEX 03 and will allow the participants to practice a skill or ability they wish to develop. Applying what you learn in a simulated situation allows you to be more effective and comfortable in a real situation. With role play, a learner can practice several things simultaneously, can get real time feedback, and can adjust their behavior almost immediately. A key feature of role play is that the learner places themselves in the shoes they wish to fill or in another person's shoes altogether. In other words, they are "acting" as they wish to behave. Role-playing decreases the gap between thinking and doing. When trying to develop behaviors like leadership, integrity, influencing others, coaching, empowering others, and so many more, rehearsing what you want to say so that you say it effectively is very important.
